Mental Health Tip of The Day: Just Relax

John Legend has a song that says,
Come on and go with me
There’s something new for you to see
Come on and go with me
There’s something new for you to see
Just relax
Just relax
[Prelude to Get Lifted]

In the African American Community, rest and relaxation can sometimes present as trigger words!
Relax? Rest? How Sway??

There’s this concept of  grinding and hustling that has quite frankly broken down the mind, body, and spirit of many! You get sayings like, “Team No Sleep”, “I Don’t Get Tired”, and “Get Rich or Die Trying”! I understand the concept but when taken to the extreme, they are ALL detrimental!!

Racial inequality in the workforce, homeownership, education, and even church has made this mentality even more prevalent! In social science, racial inequality is typically defined as “imbalances in the distribution of power, economic resources, and opportunities.” ~Wikipedia

African Americans have always had to fight!! Fight to live, fight to eat, fight to just be!! It’s exhausting!!

How be ever(my Aunt says it this way), we have made it to the end of this week so,  just relax!! We live to fight another day🥴!

There is something new for you… you are free to relax!!

Here are a few suggestions:
🍵have a cup of hot tea (green tea if you will)
📝 journal your heart’s desires(use that imagination 🦄)
▶️ turn on your favorite song and move your body to the beat
❣️create a fun day with your family and friends
😌 choose to worry about nothing
