Over the past few years, Youtube has become my personal assistant. I use it for worship, for wisdom, and for workshop preparation (gotta use your resources).
I love being able to hit the red play button and choose from a myriad of free options to suit my personal and professional needs. But as I scroll through being as choosy as I want to, I always end up in the comment section😩.

The comment section can be one helluva place on those videos and if you posted it, you must have really thick skin😯! The comment section should probably be renamed to “opinionated critics section”as that appears to be a more accurate description of what actually goes on down there.
Of course I have at least 3 points that I learned from reading the comment section but first allow the teacher in me to teach😁. Because I desire accuracy, I googled the difference between comments and feedback because as a teacher/trainer/facilitator, I just know there is one 🤷🏾♀️. See, I’m not too bothered by your “comments” which is why my workshop evaluations ask for your fair and honest “feedback”😉.
I like emojis if you haven’t noticed💁🏾♀️! But that’s neither here nor there so stay focused!🤜🏾🤛🏾
According to my Google search, comments are verbal or written remarks expressing an (catch this) opinion or reaction. Beloved, we all know the true measure of “opinions”, especially from people who don’t truly know you😤! Because those who know you are; well, should be more apt to offer feedback versus an opinion.
The problem with opinions is their ability to be much to personal and much to prideful. Opinions on the lips of the wrong person can be hurtful, wrong (in context and delivery🤦🏾♀️), and down write irrelevant! When individuals post their videos on YouTube, it is their hope that the “message ” they had in mind is what the viewers would receive! But hunni, if you scroll a few inches down to that comment section, you’ll see just what I mean😲.
I’ve read some really disgusting comments😔!
Feedback, according to my Google search is information about reactions to a product, a person’s performance of a task, etc. Also, used as a basis for improvement!
I could really end this here but I want to make sure you get my point so let’s continue on. When I read the definition to feedback, it certainly affirmed what I felt down in my innermost thoughts!
Stop👏🏾reading👏🏾the👏🏾comment👏🏾section👏🏾!

Three things I learned from reading the comment section
1. They are making “comments” under somebody else’s results!
I moved to Memphis because Aflac was the only secure offer I had when I was trying to crawl out of the country hole I was in(long story). In that industry they teach you upfront, you can have excuses or results but you cannot have both! So who cares about their excuses (comments) because you have results✌🏾😉!
2. Comments can be aimless but feedback has a point!
Again, as a trainer I am more concerned with the “feedback ” because it contributes to my ability to make improvements! If you’ve attend my sessions, you know I have no problem with you sharing your opinion (comment) but the butter for my bread resides in the feedback! I use the feedback to improve upon low areas and to perfect the high areas. Simply put, the feedback makes me and my work better!

3. You don’t realize it’s a distraction until you’re 55 comments deep😔!
Man listen, it has taken more time to read the comment section than to view the actual message🤦🏾♀️. Just like any other thing that comes to subliminally get you off track, the comment section will have you knee deep in the rabbit hole of defeat, insecurity, and doubt. Post or speak your message and ignore everything but the feedback.
Final Thought: When you’re learning to build your life the way it was intended, there will be some people who disagree with YOUR methods and your processes. Word of Advice, realize that’s their opinion and not your reality! If they are not contributing to your results/success, they shouldn’t contribute to your mental and emotional space either.
Moral of the Story: Don’t be so easily distracted by people’s comments!
As a believer, I am grounded by the scripture that’s says, “For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms.“(Ephesians 6:12)
This truth helps me with my perspective😊!

Be Motivated By Your Own Success!!!
